Hello my sweet friends,

Lately, the old hymn “The Love of God” has been so heavy on my heart. It was written by Frederick M. Lehman in 1917, and if you have never read the story behind it, I would encourage you to. It is truly fascinating.

One part of the song especially keeps coming back to me:

“O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure—The saints’ and angels’ song.”

What beautiful words.

The writer describes God’s love as rich, pure, measureless, strong, and everlasting. And honestly, I do not know about you, but this is the kind of love my heart longs for. Not a shallow love. Not a love that changes with feelings or circumstances. Not a love I have to strive to earn.

Just a steady, faithful, unchanging love.

And the older I get, the more amazed I am by the steadfast love of God. Through every season, every failure, every hard moment, and every blessing, He has remained faithful.

And that is exactly the kind of love God gives His children.

God’s Love Is Rich

God has lavished us with more than we could ever deserve. His love is not small or limited.

It is abundant, overflowing, and deeply personal.

When the Bible speaks of the riches of God’s grace, it is not talking about earthly wealth. It is speaking of the incredible gift of being forgiven, redeemed, chosen, and loved through Christ.

In Ephesians 2:4-5 we read:

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us… made us alive together with Christ…”

Even when we were far from Him, God loved us.

Friend, His love is more than enough to cover every mistake, every failure, and every regret. Through Jesus, we have been adopted into His family and given eternal life. What a loving Father we have.

God’s Love Is Pure

God’s love is completely pure because it is not based on selfishness, conditions, or performance.

Human love can sometimes be inconsistent. Feelings change. People fail us. But God’s love never wavers because it flows from His perfect and holy nature.

We do not have to earn His love.

Romans 5:8 reminds us that:

“God showed his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Think about that for a moment. Jesus did not wait until we had it all together. He loved us while we were still broken and wandering.

That is pure love.

And because He loves us so deeply, He also gently corrects and shapes us to become more like Him. Scripture tells us that “God is love.” It is not just something He does. It is who He is.

God’s Love Is Measureless

God’s love cannot be measured because there is no limit to it.

His love does not run out when we fail. It does not weaken when life gets hard. And it is not dependent on whether we feel worthy enough to receive it.

His love is wider, deeper, and greater than our minds can fully comprehend.

Sometimes I think we spend so much time focusing on our shortcomings that we forget just how fully loved we are by God. Yet over and over in Scripture, He reminds us that His grace is endless and His mercy is new every morning.

What peace there is in knowing we never reach the end of His love.

God’s Love Is Strong

God’s love is not weak or fragile. It is strong enough to hold us steady through every trial, heartbreak, disappointment, and storm.

Romans 8:38-39 declares that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing.

Not fear. Not loss. Not failure. Not even the darkest seasons of our lives.

His love holds us when we feel weary and reminds us that we are never alone.

In Ephesians 3:18, Paul prayed that believers would truly grasp how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is. I think sometimes we know about God’s love in our minds, but He wants us to experience it deeply in our hearts.

Because when we truly understand His love, it changes us.

God’s Love Endures Forever

One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that God’s love will never end.

His steadfast love remains through every season, every struggle, and every uncertainty we face.

Psalm 136 repeats the phrase, “His steadfast love endures forever,” over and over again. Twenty-six times the psalmist reminds us that God’s love is faithful and constant.

What a comfort that is in a world where so much changes.

People change. Circumstances change. Life changes.

But God never does.

Friend, I pray we never lose the wonder of being loved by Him. If we could truly grasp the depth of God’s love for us, I believe it would change the way we live, the way we see ourselves, and the way we love others.

Who can you share this truth with today?

Maybe there is someone God is placing on your heart to encourage, mentor, or simply walk alongside. Share with her a moment in your life when you truly experienced the love of God and invite her to share her story too.

I would love to hear about a time when you experienced His love as well.

Be blessed my friend,

Beth
