God’s Protection in a Moment I’ll Never Forget

Hello my sweet friend,

I want to share a time in my life that was very dark and hard for me—but also a time when God’s hand was so clearly present.

It began one night as my older daughter and I were driving home from a revival. I had moved into the right lane, and there was a transfer truck beside us. Suddenly, the truck came over into our lane.

I remember I was singing to my daughter—because it was the only thing that would keep her from crying in the car.

Then everything happened so fast.

My car hit the back of the truck; and it ran over the front part of my car. The car began spinning in circles… and the next thing I knew, we were thrown down a bank. The car was on its side held up by what looked like the tiniest tree.

The car was smoking, so I turned off the ignition and got my daughter out of her car seat to comfort her.

Held by More Than a Tree

In that moment, I began to pray.

I asked God that if anyone came along, it would be my brother—because I knew he had been at the revival and would be coming that way. My husband had already gone to work.

And then… I heard my brother’s voice coming from the top of the embankment.

You can imagine the relief that filled my heart.

I called out to him, and he rushed down to us, asking if my daughter was okay. I told him to take her up first; but he refused to leave me—especially with the car smoking.

I truly didn’t think I could get out. The limb holding the car looked so small, I didn’t think it could hold me.

But it did.

God Made a Way

Someone had stopped to help, and I used his car phone to call my husband. My daughter and I were taken to the hospital to be checked out where my husband met us.

Later, when I saw the condition of my car, I knew without a doubt—

God had saved us.

Joy… Then Heartbreak

Not long after the accident, I found out I was pregnant.

I was so excited, so full of joy.

But when I went for my ultrasound, I was told I had a blighted ovum and would need a D&C. I remember telling the nurse that I would not do it—because I believed God could do anything.

That same evening, while out to eat with my husband, I began bleeding—and it would not stop.

I was completely overwhelmed and heartbroken.

Walking Through a Dark Season

This was such a dark time for me.

I did end up needing the D&C, and the grief that followed was heavy. I had a friend and a cousin who were both expecting babies around the same time mine would have been born.

I questioned “why” more times than I can count.

Even now, there are moments when I think about that baby—especially when I see their children.

And in that season, this truth became so real to me:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”— Psalm 34:18

Beauty From Ashes

In time, I became pregnant again—with our younger daughter.

And I truly believe that if I had not lost that baby, I may not have had her. She has been such a precious blessing in our lives.

And do you remember me mentioning my “adopted” daughter?

She is the same age our baby would have been.

Another reminder… another unexpected blessing from God.

You Are Not Alone

So let me ask you, my sweet friend—

Have you walked through a dark time in your life?

I would love to hear your story. You are not alone.

Looking back, I can see God’s hand—and I hold onto this promise:

“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten…”— Joel 2:25
